Column charts should always have a zero line.
Padding between bars:

If there are too few bars to that max bar width would be exceeded, reduce the chart width to maintain both the correct gap and maximum bar widths .
Column charts with a single series should not have a legend.
No transparency – bars should be fully opaque.
The bars should not have rounded corners.
