Direct labelling

In general, where a line chart has more than one line the lines should be labelled directly. In some exceptions a legend can be used. For example:

• where two lines finish at the same point
• where the category names are long
• on mobile, where there is less room

Axis titles

Only use axis titles if it is not clear from the title and subtitle what the axis represents.
